Newsletter Deschambeault
Round 9 of the Rockstar Energy Drink Nationals was held in Deschambault, Quebec- just out side of Quebec City. It was a beautiful day, not too humid… It was sunny one second and then cloudy a few seconds later with a few sprinkles of rain here and there. But with an amazing facility, race track and fans, we couldn’t ask for a much nicer day!
Sunday Devotion
Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”
In professional sports, sponsors pay their athletes large amounts of money to be the face of their product to attract awareness and new sales.
As a witness for Christ, what are you selling to the people around you? Do they see Christ in you?
In order to win a race we must strip off weight that slows us down. Weight can be in the form of physical weight or the weight of sin. Sin can drag us down in other areas of our life that could therefore translate into negative results for a racer.
We need to run with endurance because the race of life is not easy and without endurance we will surely fall behind.
1 Corinthians 9:24-26 NLT
“Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.”
If you are running your race to achieve an earthy prize you will run out of endurance and crash because there is no everlasting satisfaction for winning an eternal race. But if you run your race for a heavenly prize you will have endurance that will not run out because it comes from the source of life- our Heavenly Father.
Galatians 5:7-8 NLT
“You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth? It certainly isn’t God, for he is the one who called you to freedom.”
Every day we have a choice as a motocross racer. Are you going to get up in the morning and make the best of the day, taking advantage of every opportunity to train and put in the work to be successful in motocross.
The same is true for the race of life! Every day we must choose to put in the work and be disciplined to stay the course, being careful not to allow people or things to drag us down like weights.

Race Results
Shawn Maffenbeier (#15): 3-5 for 4th overall
Shawn is still searching for that number 1 spot. He is riding great but a few mistakes have held him back. After a good week of riding we are hoping he can finish the season with a win!
Cade Clason (#6): 5-4 for 4th overall
With his best finish of the year it’s easy to say that Cade had a great weekend. But always wanting more and learning from his mistakes, he hopes to soon be able to stand on the podium.
Eric Jeffery (#33): 17-17 for 16th overall
Riding strong both motos, Eric had a very successful day! A first turn crash in moto 2 made him play catch up, but that didn’t stop his consistency. Between working full time and riding injured, Eric is having a great year.
Michael Thacker (#339): 34-28 for 31st
Michael struggled with learning the track this weekend, but steadily improving throughout the day is all you can ask for!
Alex Jeffery (#50): 33-DNF for 39th
Alex had a rough weekend to say the least. After a crash in moto 1 and a mechanical problem in moto 2 that forced a DNF, it is easy to say he is ready to give it all he has next weekend at round 10.
Our ministry, and race team would not be possible without the tremendous generosity, and support of our growing sponsors. Our primary goal is to share Christ’s love on, and off the track, and to provide a compassionate ear, and heart for those who are lost and hurting. The truth of Jesus never fails to provide hope during despairing times. Thanks again to all those people who provide their time, money, and prayers as we travel across this beautiful country- Canada that we call home. Have a great week!
