Redemption Racing Nwesletter Kamloops 2015
The season has started up again and with the new season, brings new sponsors, faces and opportunities to the team. This year we have 5 riders joining us: Cade Clason MX1 (filling in for injured Nathan Bles –with only one week’s notice). Returning is Eric Jeffery in MX1, Seth Rarick in MX2 and Alex Jeffery in MX2 (intermediate) as well as Michael Thacker MX1(joining for select rounds). We also have a new mechanic this year Isaiah Murph helping out our riders.
At the morning devotion I talked about leaving behind the old and focusing on the new-which is our present and future. Many good things are waiting to happen this race season but we can sabotage our own future by the things we bring with us from the past. History does not decide our future. It merely describes it. There are rhythms to our life and based on the types of rhythms we experience we tend to adopt a vision of what our life is. The mentality of a racer saying “I always get bad starts” will never produce good starts. If we have an attitude of “all of this has gone on so obviously that’s where it’s going to take me” … I would like to challenge that way of thinking because the past in not a guarantee for the future. It’s a new day today and new things can break the patterns of the old. A new word can always be spoken about the situation.
What we think and believe matters! How we believe deeply shapes how we interpret the world and how we respond. It will affect how we interact with people and situations.
In the bible, Jesus says “repent” (turn from your ways and follow me). The Greek word for repent is metanoeo. Meta means change like metamorphoses. Noeo means to exercise the mind- to think or comprehend. Metanoeo means: To think about things in a whole new way.
Jesus says turn from your ill ways, leave it behind and think about things in a new way.
Romans 12:2 NLT
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Cade Clason (#761) had a good start to his debut in Canada finishing 6th in the first moto while second moto he struggled with feeling sick from the heat and finished a solid 7th.. for 6th overall.
Seth Rarick (#17)- “Could of done better and could of done worse” in his words. A terrible start first moto left him climbing from way back up to 8th. In the second moto he was running a solid top 5 until a mistake led to a crash- leaving him finishing 10th… giving him 9th overall.
Eric Jeffery (#69) finished strong in his first moto in 11th. His second moto was going well riding in 15th until he fell and lost his drive finishing in 20th… for 16th overall.
Alex Jeffery (#111) finished 22nd and 26th for 26th overall.
Michael Thacker (#339) finished 34th and 28th for 29th overall.
One of our church members from London, Jeff Eelkema- volunteered on very short notice to drive our semi truck and rig for us for the first two rounds and what a blessing he has been to us! This guy has never been to a motocross track before and he’s helping out like he’s been at the track for years, doing everything from washing and fixing bikes, to offering great recipes for dinner! Jeff- Thank you for all your time and dedication these last few weeks in helping out our ministry.
We are look forward to the good things in sore for our team and ministry during the week and at the races this coming weekend in Nanaimo B.C
Our ministry, and race team would not be possible without the tremendous generosity, and support of our growing sponsors. Our primary goal is to share Christ’s love on, and off the track, and to provide a compassionate ear, and heart for those who are lost and hurting. The truth of Jesus never fails to provide hope during despairing times. Thanks again to all those people who provide their time, money, and prayers as we travel across this beautiful country Canada that we call home. Have a great week!
